According to first responders, the incident occurred when Lanceslin was struck by a train traveling along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks near the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Rosebud Road. Emergency personnel quickly arrived at the scene and provided aid before transporting her to Franklin’s Riverbend Hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical staff, she later succumbed to her injuries.

Data indicates that approximately five trains pass through the area daily, along with around 120 vehicles as of 2025. Trains traveling through the crossing are permitted to reach speeds of up to 70 mph. The intersection is equipped with warning lights and crossing gates intended to enhance safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
